Washington Nationals outfielder Denard Span took batting practice on Monday inside a cage.

The Nationals will give him some time before having him take batting practice on the field.

Span was injured on Friday night while rounding first base. He collided with Dan Uggla of Atlanta. Uggla was ruled to have interfered on the play.

“I feel fine,” Span said, via the Washington Post on Saturday. “I could play. I understand with my history that it was best for me to go on the seven-day DL to be safe. So we went ahead to think about the rest of the season and the rest of my life.”

Currently Span is on the seven day concussion list. The hope is that Span will not miss a large amount of time.

In 10 games Span was hitting .222 with five runs scored.
