The Tampa Bay Rays have re-signed left handed pitcher Erik Bedard to a minor league deal.

Bedard was unable to land a spot with the Rays this spring but he will return to them giving them minor league depth. The Rays have Jake Odorizzi as their fifth starter while Jeremy Hellickson is out. Bedard will get the call should any additional injuries arise.

Bedard appeared in 32 games last eason with Houston, making 26 starts. He finished 2013 with a 4-12 record, 4.59 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP.

The Texas Rangers have made official their deal with free agent Scott Baker after the right hander passed his physical.

Baker was unable to win a spot with the Seattle Mariners this spring but the Rangers are desperate for arms at this point. Expect Baker to start in the minors. He will become an option for the Rangers should injuries occur or others prove to be simply ineffective.

In four spring outings Baker had a 6.75 ERA and a 1.92 WHIP. He had a 1/7 K/BB ratio.
