The San Diego Padres have added outfielder Jeff Francoeur to a minor league contract.
Francoeur, 30, will report to minor league camp with the Padres on Wednesday. He was cut earlier this week by the Cleveland Indians after posting a .286/.359/.429 line with a home run and 10 RBI this spring.
The Padres will add Francoeur to their minor league system. He will give them depth but expecting him to be more is simply wishful thinking.
Francoeur hit just .204/.238/.298 with three home runs in 81 games last season between Kansas City and San Francisco.
