The Boston Red Sox and DH David Ortiz have reached an agreement on a deal for the 2015 season worth $16 million according to ESPN Boston writer Gordon Edes.

Ortiz’s new deal will also include vesting options for 2016 and 2017. An announcement is expected to come on Monday.

Ortiz had been vocal about his desires for an extension beyond the 2014 season. Previously the Red Sox had signed Ortiz to a two-year deal in the winter of 2012.

The 38-year-old Ortiz hit 30 home runs and drove in 103 RBI last season before turning it on in the playoffs and claiming the World Series MVP.

Since being picked up as a free agent prior to the 2003 season, Ortiz has been a nine-time All-Star and a key to three World Series Championship teams in Boston.
