The Chicago White Sox have named Chris Sale as their Opening Day starter. Sale will pitch against the Minnesota Twins on March 31 at US Cellular Field.

Sale, 24, will look to replicate the 3.07 ERA and 226/46 K/BB ratio over 214 1/3 innings last season.

In addition to naming Sale their Opening Day hurler, the White Sox also announced that right hander Zach Stewart has been traded to the Atlanta Braves for cash considerations.

Stewart, 27 has not appeared in the majors since 2012. In two big league seasons he owns a 3-10 record 6.82 ERA and a 1.65 WHIP. The Braves are looking for depth in the wake of a injury to pitcher Kris Medlen.
