The Miami Marlins and right fielder Giancarlo Stanton will wait until after the 2014 season to talk about a multi-year extension.
Asked about the contract of Freddie Freeman, Santon spoke about how the two players have had similar careers.

“The contract would be similar, I guess. It’s not like he got this, I’m going to work for this.” said Stanton, via the Miami Herald. “Our careers are very similar.

Stanton will not be eligible for free agency until after the 2016 season and will hope for some clarity on the Marlins roster before speaking about an extension.
“Last year, there was some bitterness,” said Stanton.

Last season Stanton finished the year with a .249/.365/.480 with 24 home runs and 62 RBI in 116 games.
