It’s one of the most colorful stories in the career of Babe Ruth. The Yankee slugger signed a ball for 11-year-old Johnny Sylvester and promised to hit a home run.

Ruth responded by hitting three home runs in Game 4 of the World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals.

There’s a lot of debate about the details of Ruth and Sylvester’s condition but the ball has now hit the auction block. The auction will conclude on February 6th, 2014, Ruth’s 119th birthday. Also for auction is some memorabilia the boy receieved from football star Red Granage and tennis player Big Bill Tiden.
