The season of Tim Beckham will get started a little late. Beckham, 23, tore the ACL in his right knee while working out and will miss a good portion of the 2014 season.
Beckham was the first overall selection of the 2008 draft and was to compete for a bench spot on the Rays this season.
The Rays selected Beckha with the first selection of the 2008 draft. An infielder, Beckham compiled a .266/.332/.381 line with 34 home runs and 283 RBI and 81 stolen bases in six minor league seasons.
Beckham made his major league debut in mid-September last season collecting three hits in seven at-bats.
