The New York Yankees and outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury are closing in on a seven-year deal.
According to Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News the deal is done and will exceed the seven-year $142 million deal that Carl Crawford received a few years ago. Feinsand reports that the deal is for $153 million.
Yankees deal with Ellsbury is seven years and $153 million. That's $12 million more than Crawford's contract.

The signing of Ellsbury would seem to lessen the chances of Robinson Cano returning to the Yankees but anything could happen. If nothing else a deal with Ellsbury would seem to signal that the Yankees are out of the bidding for Carlos Beltran.
