The New York Mets have signed outfielder Chris Young to a one-year contract. Young, 30,  has struggled the last to seasons but offers a low-risk/high-upside addition to the Mets.

Young would appear to be on track to be in the outfield come opening day. Last season Young hit .200/.380/.379 with 12 home runs in 107 games.

The Mets also “remain in the mix” for Nelson Cruz reports Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Cruz, 33, as said to be asking for five years and $75 million when the offeseason began but that number has reportedly dropped.

Cruz served a 50 game suspension last season for PEDs and ended 2012 with a .266/.327/.506 line to go with 27 home runs and 76 RBI over 109 games.
