The San Francisco Giants had hoped to lock up left handed reliever Javier Lopez prior to free agency but that will not happen.
Lopez, 36, is intent on testing out the free agent market after earning $4.25 million in each of the last two seasons. There figures to be no shortage of teams willing to offer a multi-year deal after he finished the 2013 season with a 1.83 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP in 39 1/3 innings of work.
