It was an easy choice for St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Mathney as he announced that Adam Wainwright would start Game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday night.
The ace of the Cardinals staff has not pitched since Game 3 of the National League Championship. He is expected to be followed by Michael Wacha in Game 2.
Wainwright holds a 2-1 record  a 1.57 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 20/1 K/BB ratio over three starts.
