Is Paul Konerko nearing the end? Konerko has said he intended to play out his contract which ends this season. From there his future is unknown.

Reports had suggested that the 37-year-old wanted to come back for an 18th season but the first baseman told Bruce Levine of ESPN Chicago that he would address the situation this weekend during the White Sox final home stand.

“The last couple of times, and especially in 2005, there was no doubt I would play again,” Konerko said. “I understand the inquiries about my future and why people want to know. At the same time, it is still about doing my job; I don’t want to get ahead of myself. What is the rush, is the way I feel.”

This season Konerko is hitting just .248 with 11 home runs and 53 RBI while appearing in 121 games.
