The Tampa Bay Rays are set to activate relief pitcher Jesse Crain from the disabled list on Monday.
Crain will be activated prior to Monday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
The Rays acquired Crain from the Chicago White Sox prior to the trade deadline but the reliever has not thrown a pitch for the Rays.
While with the White Sox, Crain compiled a 0.74 ERA with 46 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings of work.
Crain will be eligible for the Rays postseason roster if Tampa Bay can secure a Wild Card spot. The Rays enter Sunday with a 85-69 record, a half-game ahead of the Cleveland Indians for the first Wild Card.
