Yusmeiro Petit nearly threw a perfect game on Friday night for the San Francisco Giants against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Petit, 28, was making just his third start and fourth appearance of the season.

Though eight innings Petit was perfect. In the ninth inning he got Chris Owings to strike out. He then got Gerrado Parra to ground out before facing Eric Chavez.

Chavez got ahead 2-0 in the count before taking two strikes and then a ball to force a 3-2 count.

Then it happened. Chavez dropped a single just in front of right fielder Hunter Pence who had just hit a home run an inning earlier.

A.J. Pollock would ground out to end the game.

A former Diamondback Petit entered the game just 12-20 in his career with a 5.37 ERA.
