The Tampa Bay Rays signed outfielder Delmon Young to a minor league contract on Thursday.
Young has been assigned to Double-A Montgomery.
Released by the Phillies a week ago, the 2003 first overall pick is back with the club where his career began.
Young hit just .261/.302/.397 in 80 games with Philadelphia and should not be counted on to be a difference maker even if he returns to the majors.
