Cal Ripken was known as the Iron Man during his playing days and now the former Baltimore Oriole star is out to solve crime.

Ripken, 52, is out to find the man who kidnapped his mother a year ago. The former  MVP and All-Star is offering $100,000 to help find the man who kidnapped Vi Ripken.

The announcement of the reward came Thursday at the Sports Legends Museum located next to Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Vi Ripken was taken at gunpoint from her Aberdeen home and held captive for 24 hours.

Cal Ripken has been searching to find her abductor since.

“In our minds, this is important, not only for us and our community, but for all communities,” Ripken said Thursday. “We would like to get closure on this case and give all of us some peace of mind.”

“This might not be the first time he did it, and we want to make sure it’s his last,” Ripken added.

Joining the quest to find the man responsible for kidnapping the 75-year-old Vi Ripken from her home last July 24 is John Walsh from FOX’s “America’s Most Wanted”.

“Amongst the lowlifes that populate this country, one hundred grand is a lot of money,” Walsh said. “And if someone knows who this dirtbag is, they’ll drop a dime on him.”

The suspect is a white male with glasses, brown hair and in his mid-30s to mid-40s.  He’s about 5’10” and roughly 180 pounds.
