Evan Gattis has been activated from the disabled list and will play first base on Sunday for the Atlanta Braves.

The Braves had not planned to activate Gattis until after the All-Star game but with injuries depleting their entire outfield and Freddie Freeman jamming his wrist the Braves pushed up his return.

Freeman jammed his wrist while applying a tag on Saturday and will not play in Sunday’s game. He had been selected as the NL Final Vote representative for the All-Star Game but has been ruled out of the game.

Prior to going on the disabled list Gattis was hitting .252/.317/.577 with 14 home runs and 37 RBI in 53 games.
