The Boston Red Sox have placed shortstop Stephen Drew on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 28, due to right hamstring tightness.
Drew has been sidelined since last Friday with the ailment, but the injury wasn’t initially deemed serious enough to require a stint on the disabled list.
Jose Iglesias will continue to handle the bulk of playing time at shortstop in his absence.
