The Philadelphia Phillies have activated second baseman Chase Utley from the disabled list prior to Friday night’s game against the New York Mets.

Utley had been sidelined with what the Phillies termed a mild sprain in his right oblique. In two rehab games Utley went hitless but did not experience any issues with his oblique.

On the season Utley has compiled a .272/.339/.475 line with seven home runs and 25 RBI.

In order to make room for Utley on the active roster the Phillies optioned utility man Michael Martinez to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
