Brandon McCarthy suffered a seizure last week while at a Phoenix restaurant with his wife Amanda. McCarthy was taken to an area hospital but is fine after being prescribed anti-seizure medication.
McCarthy was told after his brain surgery last year that he could be prone to seizures in the future.
Amanda “took control of the situation pretty quickly” McCarthy told the Arizona Republic.
“She might have dressed it up a little bit, but I’m pretty sure she was a superhero there. I know she’s talked about how some of the employees there were pretty damn good. Some of the people eating there helped, too. If anybody reads it or hears about it, thank you to them for helping and making it go as smooth as possible.”
McCarthy is currently rehabbing his shoulder from inflammation and is hopeful to rejoin the Diamondbacks soon. On the season McCarthy holds a 5.00 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP in 11 starts this season.
