Dr. Lewis Yocum passes away at age 66

Dr. Lewis Yocum served as the team orthopedist of the Los Angelels Angels for 36 years. Yocum passed away on Saturday in Manhattan Beach according to team spokesman Tim Mead.

Yocum,66, had been ill with liver cancer.

Best known for extending the careers of major leaguers Yocum was called “a giant in the field of sports medicine” by commissioner Bud Selig.

Yocum specialized in sports medicine, shoulder, elbow and knees.

Yocum is survived by his wife, Beth; son Donald; and daughter Laura.
