The Cardinals will place starting pitcher Jake Westbrook on the disabled list according to a radio interview between general manager and KMOX.
Westbrook is dealing with an elbow injury and the Cardinals have given him an injection hoping that it clams things down.
The Cardinals will summon John Gast from Triple-A to assume Westbrook’s rotation spot. Westbrook allowed nine hits and three runs in his last start against the Chicago Cubs when he went 5 1/3 innings.
Westbrook is 2-1 with a 1.62 ERA on the season. Thus far this season he has a 1.48 WHIP but has avoided giving up the long ball.
