When Chris Carpenter experienced nerve irritation before the start of Spring Training some openly wondered if the pitcher would ever pitch again. The St. Louis Cardinals have not given up hope that Carpenter would return to the team this year, even if it means in a relief role.
Carpenter, 38, is currently on the 60-day disabled list but has begin throwing.
In his career Carpenter has made just 18 appearances out of the bullpen over 16 years. He is earning $12.5 million this season.
