The Toronto Blue Jays designated pitcher Aaron Laffey for assignment last weekend. After clearing waivers Laffey rejected a minor league assignment and has become a free agent.
Laffey, 28, has allowed 10 runs in 12 2/3 innings of work this year.
The Blue Jays originally claimed Laffey off of waiver from the New York Mets. Subbing for Josh Johnson the left hander lasted just 2 2/3 innings in his lone Blue Jays appearance while allowing two runs on two hits and five walks.Laffey will now be free to choose his next team. He figures to have a fair amount of interest on a minor league deal.
