Greinke breaks collarbone during brawl with Padres

Los Angeles will be without Zack Greinke for the foreseeable future after the right handed pitcher suffered a fractured collarbone in the Dodgers win over San Diego on Thursday night.

Greinke hit Carlos Quentin with a 3-2 pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning. Quentin began to walk to the mound and then Greinke appears to say something. Quentin clearly did not it like and charged the mound.

The result was a benches clearing brawl and a broken left collarbone for Greinke.

When play resumed Juan Uribe hit a go ahead home run for the Dodgers giving them a 3-2 victory.

After the game Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said that Quentin charging the mound “was just stupid.” He went on to say that “He should not play a game until Greinke can pitch. If he plays before Greinke pitches something is wrong.”

The two teams will play each other again in Los Angeles Monday thru Wednesday.
