Athletics reinstate pitcher Bartolo Colon

Bartolo Colon’s suspension for a positive PED test is over and the Oakland Athletics have activated the right handed pitcher. Colon missed the end of the 2012 season and the first five games of this season while serving the suspension.

To add Colon to their active roster the Athletics have optioned right hander Dan Straily to the minors. Straily pitched 6 2/3 innings on Friday night allowing two runs and striking out 11. If Colon struggles the A’s do not figure to wait to recall Straily.

Colon was signed to a one-year deal worth $3 million during the offseason. Prior to his suspension Colon had made 24 starts recording a 3.43 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP.
