With Spring Training creeping closer teams are actively signing players to minor league deals that will bolster their overall team depth. The Colorado Rockies came to an agreement on Wednesday with outfielder Greg Golson and first basemen Ryan Garko.

Golson and Garko each spent last season at the Triple-A level and figure to serve as minor league depth.

Golson, 27, hit .276 and stole 20 bases while with the White Sox Triple-A club last year. Golson has had a cup of coffee in the big leagues with three different clubs. While Golson offers some speed on the base-paths he never has shown the ability to get on base regularly and figures only to see major league time in the event of an injury.

The 32-year-old Garko has not appeared in a major league game since 2010. He spent time with Tampa Bay’s Double-A club last season and will likely serve as a mentor/player again this season for Colorado. Garko did compile a .297/.386/.441 line with eight home runs last season. He could see some major league time if Todd Helton is forced to miss considerable time this season.
