The Pittsburgh Pirates and left handed pitcher Francisco Liriano have finalized a two-year deal. Liriano and the Pirates were said to have agreed to a deal a month ago but concerns about the status of his arm put the deal in doubt.
Liriano will make $12.75 million over the two year deal, previously he was set to make $14 million. Should Liriano miss time due to an injury to his right (non-throwing) shoulder he will also agree to reduce his salary.
Last season Liriano compiled a 5.37 ERA and a 1.147 WHIP in 156 2/3 innings for the Minnesota Twins. He will occupy a rotation spot for the Pirates next season.
