The Texas Rangers have signed relief pitcher Jason Frasor to a one-year deal. Frasor will make $1.5 million.

Pitching out of the bullpen, the Rangers will hope for a bounce back season from the 35-year-old right handed pitcher. Last season he compiled a 4.12 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP in 43 2/3 innings.

In nine big league seasons, eight of which were with the Blue Jays, Frasor has a 3.77 ERA in 1.33 WHIP.

In a corresponding movie, the Rangers cut catcher Eli Whiteside. Whiteside tallied only 14 plate appearances last season. He is a .215 career hitter whose biggest assest to a team will be as organizational depth.

Texas remains interested in signing Lance Berkman to a contract.
