The New York Yankees are still interested in Scott Hairston. Hairston spent the last two seasons with the Mets.
Matt Diaz was signed to a minor league deal two days ago but that has not stopped the Yankees pursuit of Hairston. Hairston is coming off the best season of his career when he hit .263/.299/.504 with 20 home runs.
Hairston stated a week ago that he would prefer to re-sign with the Mets though the team has been hesitant to offer him the two-year deal he has been seeking.
The Yankees have a projected outfield of Curtis Granderson, Ichiro Suzuki and Brett Gardner.
