The new method for generating the starting lineup for NASCAR Cup Series races has rewarded Kevin Harvick who will start on the pole for Sunday’s inaugural event at the Daytona Road Course.
Harvick will be joined on the front row by Denny Hamlin. The duo has combined for 11 wins in NASCAR’s first 22 races.
The new method proved to be problematic for the two Team Penske drivers who were involved in an early crash at Michigan International Speedway last week. Brad Keselowski will start 17th while Ryan Blaney will line up 24th.
