Former WWE wrestler Ashley Massaro dies at 39

Former WWE wrestler Ashley Massaro passed away Thursday morning. Massaro was 39.

Massaro was taken from her Long Island home Thursday morning around 5:30 am to a hospital where she passed away. TMZ reports her cause of death is not known but it’s not believed to be criminal.

Massaro won the “2005 Raw Diva Search” and later won the WWR Women’s Championship besting Melina at Wrestlemania 23. Her WWE career spanned from 2005-2008 and also included a brief stint on “Survivor: China.” Massaro’s WWE career cane to an end after her daughter Alexis became sick.

In 2007 Massaro appeared on the cover of Playboy and posed nude in the magazine.

WWE released a statement on Massaro’s passing.

“We are saddened to learn of the tragic death of former WWE Superstar Ashley Massaro. “She performed in WWE from 2005-2008 and was beloved by her fellow Superstars and fans around the world. WWE offers its condolences to Ashley’s family and friends.”
