{"id":64,"date":"2014-02-05T10:41:25","date_gmt":"2014-02-05T15:41:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tireball.com\/olympics\/?p=64"},"modified":"2014-02-05T10:41:25","modified_gmt":"2014-02-05T15:41:25","slug":"shaun-white-pulls-out-of-slopestyle-gets-called-out-by-rival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tireball.com\/olympics\/2014\/02\/05\/shaun-white-pulls-out-of-slopestyle-gets-called-out-by-rival\/","title":{"rendered":"Shaun White pulls out of slopestyle, gets called out by rival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/tireball.com\/olympics\/files\/2014\/02\/shaunwhite.jpg\" alt=\"shaunwhite\" width=\"580\" height=\"387\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-65\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tireball.com\/olympics\/files\/2014\/02\/shaunwhite.jpg 580w, https:\/\/tireball.com\/olympics\/files\/2014\/02\/shaunwhite-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><br \/>\nShaun White has pulled out of the newest Winter Olympic event, slopestyle.<\/p>\n<p>White, 27, will focus on the half-pipe event after citing concerns with the slopestyle course.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter much deliberation with my team, I have made the decision to focus solely on trying to bring home the third straight gold medal in halfpipe for Team USA,\u201d White said in a statement. \u201cThe difficult decision to forego slopestyle is not one I take lightly as I know how much effort everyone has put into holding the slopestyle event for the first time in Olympic history, a history I had planned on being a part being a part of.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Monday one medal contender in Norway&#8217;s Torstein Horgmo broke his collarbone during a run.<\/p>\n<p>Of course not everyone is buying White&#8217;s reason for pulling out of the event. Max Parrot believes White is afraid of not winning.<\/p>\n<p>In a now deleted tweet Parrot wrote &#8220;Shaun knows he won&#8217;t be able to win the slopes, thats why he pulled out.
