John Carlson is not done playing football. Carlson suffered the third concussion of his NFL career last season in Week 14 and missed the rest of the season.<\/p>\n

Carlson, 30, also suffered two concussions while playing for Notre Dame in college.<\/p>\n

While retirement was discussed between Carlson and his wife the tight end is going to keep playing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never once said I was going to retire; I said I\u2019m going to evaluate this just like I do every year,\u201d Carlson told the Star Tribune<\/a> on Saturday. \u201cI\u2019ve gone through that process, and I feel great.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carlson finished the season with 32 catches for 344 yards and a touchdown much of which came after Kyle Rudolph broke his foot in Week 9.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a serious thing, but I\u2019m not ready to be done,\u201d Carson said. \u201cI\u2019m not done and the doctors are telling me that it\u2019s OK that I\u2019m not done.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut the way it was kind of taken by other people was, \u2018Oh he\u2019s done. He\u2019s got a concussion.\u2019 This is football. Guys get concussions; a lot of guys cover concussions up, and they hide them. I haven\u2019t done that because I don\u2019t want to do that. I value my health, and I also value my career in this opportunity. Once you shut it down, you really can\u2019t go back. The end is the end.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
