Leave it to ‘the Walrus’ to backpedal. Mike Holmgren denied today that he was interested in coaching the Dallas Cowboys.<\/p>\n

“I don’t know how any of that stuff gets started,” Holmgren said<\/a>. “The last time I talked to anybody about my future was in this (Browns) room. I honestly don’t know what I want to do.”<\/p>\n

Holmgren insists that he is still committed to the Cleveland Browns despite his impending departure from his position of\u00a0 team president.<\/p>\n

Speculation about Holmgren arose on Sunday when CBSSports.com\u2019s Jason La Canfora told<\/a> \u201cThe NFL Today\u201d that Holmgren \u2014 after his unsuccessful stint as president of the Browns \u2014 has \u201cserious interest\u201d in coaching the Dallas Cowboys.<\/p>\n

“As long as I feel I can contribute a little bit and helping some of the players and helping the coaches a little bit, Joe (Banner and I have talked. As long as I’m feeling good about a contribution (I’ll stay), but if I’m not helping that could change, but right now the plan is to be here through the end of the season.”<\/p>\n

Holmgren will attend the Cowboys game on Sunday as they host the Browns.<\/p>\n

“Yeah, and I hope to say hello to Jerry (Jones) and Steven (Jones) and those guys,” he said.<\/p>\n

Do not expect this one to go away any time soon. The Cowboys defeated Philadelphia on Sunday to improve to 4-5 on the season. The win may have just briefly stalled the departure of head coach Jason Garrett.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
