Ryan Fitzpatrick would welcome a new deal to remain the quarterback of the Jets next season.<\/p>\n

After a broken jaw took\u00a0Geno Smith out in training camp it was the 33-year-old who stepped in to the starters role and has led the Jets to an 8-5 record on the reason. As the Jets push for the playoffs, Fitzpatrick has already set career highs in touchdowns with 25.<\/p>\n

Fitzpatrick was viewed as a veteran who could take over for the Jets should Smith prove ineffective. What the Jets got was even more. With a weak free agent market for quarterbacks there could be numerous teams looking to sign Fitzpatrick as a stopgap option.<\/p>\n

“Yeah, I’d love to be back,” Fitzpatrick said, via NJ.com<\/a>, after practice on Tuesday about 2016 with the Jets.<\/p>\n

The Jets look like a dramatically different team with Fitzpatrick under center and odds are they will not find a better option in free agency or the NFL Draft so bringing him back would be best for all parties involved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
