A first round selection in the 2014 NFL Draft, Manziel looked unprepared during his brief playing time while making more headlines off the field. <\/p>\n
Browns general manager Ray Farmer told reporters on Tuesday that the team wanted to see the right actions out of the Heisman trophy winning quarterback. <\/p>\n
\u201cI would tell you that the words don\u2019t mean anything. I\u2019m not a big word guy. It\u2019s all about action. I think that\u2019s really where we\u2019re at in time, and I think that\u2019s for everybody. I think that\u2019s what all of our players and our coaches and our staff, everybody with this organization want to see. That\u2019s what our fans want to see. It\u2019s about action.\u201d<\/p>\n
Farmer did add he believed Manziel could be a starter in the league but what else would you have expected from the man who drafted him?<\/p>\n
\u201cI do think he can develop into a solid starter in this league, yes. I think that the sample size that\u2019s available is, like you said, small. I\u2019d say to that end, we all have got to be patient,” said Farmer. “I think there\u2019s an opportunity for the guy to make changes. It\u2019s up to him if he\u2019s going to make those changes, but I think the talent is in his body to accomplish that.\u201d<\/p>\n
To prove how hollow his words were Farmer went on to say the Browns would entertain drafting a quarterback in the first round. <\/p>\n
\u201cNope, I would not. I would not hesitate to take whoever I thought could help this football team and move us forward. The goal is win it\u2019s not to draft any particular person or players, simply to win. If we win, that\u2019s all that matters. It\u2019s not mine so I will give credit to (Brown Executive Chief of Staff ) Bill Kuharich who taught me this but W.I.N. is what\u2019s important now and that\u2019s what we\u2019re going focus on at every turn is what\u2019s important now. It\u2019s what you do during the course of the season when you have a guy go down you pop the next guy in. When you get to the offseason you try to plan and create for what\u2019s important now. What is important now is truly identifying who is on this team that we should keep around, and who\u2019s not, and to that tune how do we improve our roster moving forward and then how do we draft to what we\u2019ve already garnished free-agency or what we lost. So that\u2019s the steps will take here coming up.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Browns may try to land a veteran to steer Manziel because spending back to back first round picks on quarterbacks is going to be tough to overcome. It is doubtful Brian Hoyer remains with the team.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
