Tony Sparano coached the Raiders to \u00a03-9 record after taking over for Dennis Allen. Now the interim coach wants to stay on board for the 2015 season.<\/p>\n

“All I want to do right now is be the head coach of the Raiders,” Sparano said. “How badly? Very, very badly. This is my team. I left my team today. I’m looking forward to starting over again with them. Those decisions will be made down the road. I only have one concern now and that’s to be head coach of the Oakland Raiders.”<\/p>\n

With general manager Reggie McKenzie appearing to be safe the biggest question for the Raiders is Sparano.<\/p>\n

“I’m confident. I know the direction this is headed,” Sparano said. “I’ve done this before, not quite like this. I’ve got a lot of work done right here. I want that work to be for me, for this organization.”<\/p>\n

Given that Jim Harbaugh is no longer an option, Sparano stands to have a reasonable chance to remain with the Raiders. He will soon speak to owner Mark Davis about the position.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
