Despite a poor 2013 season Flowers found a way to earn a Pro Bowl selection but the Chiefs turned to trying to trade him earlier this offseason.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" lang=\"en\">\n<p>Just want to say thanks to the Hunt family for the 6years in Kansas City thanks to the fans and my teammates for some great years.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Brandon Flowers (@BFlowers24) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BFlowers24\/statuses\/477525590870749185\">June 13, 2014<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Unable to find any takers for Flowers contract the Chiefs have gone ahead and released him.<\/p>\n<p>One scenario that could unfold is Flowers heading to Houston where he would be reunited with new defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel who previously headed up the Chiefs.<\/p>\n<p>The Chiefs drafted Phillip Gaines in the third round. Flowers was set to make $5.5 million this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe appreciate Brandon&#8217;s contributions to the team over the last six seasons,\u201d Chiefs general manager John Dorsey said in a statement. \u201cIt&#8217;s in the best interest of the club and the player to part ways at this time.
