\nJosh Brent will get out of jail in two months. Could he then return to the Dallas Cowboys?<\/p>\n

Cowboys chief operating officer Stephen Jones did not rule out the Cowboys welcoming back the defensive tackle.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll certainly look at that,\u201d Jones said via the Dallas Morning News<\/a>. \u201cThe league will have a big say in when he can come back. We\u2019ll certainly evaluate that situation when it comes. But I certainly wouldn\u2019t rule it out.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is important to read what Jones actually said. Saying that the Cowboys would not rule something out is different from the team bringing back Brent who was sentenced to 180 days in prison for a drunk driving crash in 2012 that killed teammate Jerry Brown.<\/p>\n

Brent will be on probation for 10 years, should he violate it he will be forced to spend 10 years in prison.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, Josh has paid a price,\u201d Jones said. \u201cThat\u2019s a tragic, tragic accident. Right now he\u2019s doing what he needs to be doing. We\u2019ll evaluate things as they move forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brent retired from the NFL last July. Should he choose to come back he would be subject to a suspension from the NFL.<\/p>\n

Brent played in 39 games for the Cowboys between 2010 and 2012, recording 44 tackles and 1.5 sacks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
