The Dallas Cowboys defense was last or near the bottom in nearly every defensive statistic last season. Sean Lee has already been ruled out for the season and gone is DeMarcus Ware.<\/p>\n

Things could be even worse in Dallas this season leaving new defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli to state the obvious.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just got to get guys to have career years,\u201d Marinelli said, via Jon Machota of the\u00a0Dallas Morning News<\/a><\/em>. \u201cI think you set standards for men. If you don\u2019t set standards, you certainly won\u2019t reach them. If I put a ceiling on them and say, \u2018This is all I expect of you,\u2019 that\u2019s all you\u2019ll get.<\/p>\n

\u201cI take the ceiling off. I want every guy to have a career year. That\u2019s how I do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Needless to say the Cowboys need big things out of draftee DeMarcus Lawrence and free agent additions Henry Melton, Terrell McClain and Jeremy Mincey.<\/p>\n
