Brady Hoke’s coaching career at Michigan is over. Hoke was fired following a meeting with interim athletics director Jim Hackett on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Hoke’s first season in Ann Arbor was in 2011, where he led the Wolverines to an 11-2 record, including a 23-20 overtime win against Virginia Tech in the 2012 Allstate Sugar Bowl, Michigan’s first BCS bowl game since the 2006 season.<\/p>\n

Since then, Michigan has seen its win total decrease each season — 8-5 in 2012, 7-6 in 2013 and 5-7 this season.<\/p>\n

Hoke’s final departure\u00a0at Michigan hasn’t been in question, only the when and how were unknown until today.<\/p>\n

Brandon, who hired Hoke on Jan. 11, 2011, resigned on Oct. 31 after four years on the job amid public outcry for a new leader. Jim Hackett replaced Brandon on an interim basis.<\/p>\n

Hoke, a former standout linebacker at Ball State, previously was the head coach at Ball State (2003-08) and San Diego State (2009-10) before accepting the Wolverines’ position.<\/p>\n

The team scheduled a 4:30 p.m conference to discuss the direction of the team.<\/p>\n
