\nThe tenure of Bo Pelini at Nebraska is over. Even as the Cornhuskers hold a 9-3 record on the season and are coming off an overtime win against Iowa, the school opted to go in a new direction.<\/p>\n

“Earlier this morning, I informed coach Bo Pelini of our decision to move forward in a new direction,” athletic director Shawn Eichorst said in a statement<\/a>. “Coach Pelini served our University admirably for seven years and led our football program’s transition to the Big Ten Conference. We wish Coach Pelini and his wonderful family all the best and thank him for his dedicated service to the University.”<\/p>\n

Pelini coached at Nebraska for seven years posting a 67-27 record. Only Alabama and Oregon can match Nebraska’s nine wins a year since 2008. Pelini is still owed $7.65 million after his contract was extended though February 2019. All of Nebraska’s assistants are under contract through January 2016.<\/p>\n

Nebraska quaraterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. was not pleased when he head of the school’s decision to fire Pelini posting to twitter.<\/p>\n
