Edwards has had his name in the headline for good reasons this year after a miserable 2012 season that saw him miss the Sprint Chase and fail to find victory lane.<\/p>\n<p>Some attribute the failed 2012 season of Edwards to his narrow loss of the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup. This season Edwards was parterened with a new crew chief in Jimmy Fennig. Fennig had most recently served as the crew chief for Matt Kenseth and guided Kurt Busch&#8217;s championship season in 2004.<\/p>\n<p><strong>STARTING LINEUP: <\/strong><a title=\"Carl Edwards wins pole for Sprint All-Star race, full starting lineup and race info\" href=\"http:\/\/tireball.com\/nascar\/2013\/05\/17\/carl-edwards-wins-pole-for-sprint-all-star-race-full-starting-lineup-and-race-info\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sprint All-Star race<\/a>, <a title=\"Martin Truex Jr. wins pole for NASCAR Sprint Showdown, full starting lineup and race info\" href=\"http:\/\/tireball.com\/nascar\/2013\/05\/17\/martin-truex-jr-wins-pole-for-nascar-sprint-showdown-full-starting-lineup-and-race-info\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sprint Showdown<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Edwards found victory lane in Phoenix and currently sits in second place, 44 points behind Jimmie Johnson, in the Cup series standings. On Friday Edwards guided his No. 99 car to the pole position for the All-Star race. His Ford Fusion will carry the name of Dick Trickle on <a title=\"Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch pay tribute to Dick Trickle by placing him on their cars\" href=\"http:\/\/tireball.com\/nascar\/2013\/05\/17\/carl-edwards-kyle-busch-pay-tribute-to-dick-trickle-by-him-on-their-cars\/\" target=\"_blank\">above the door<\/a> for this weekends race.<\/p>\n<p>With Edwards having success one can not help but remember his victory in the 2011 All-Star race. Well, more appropriately, his celebratory burnout that resulted in a wrecked race car.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3sZU2AaVDTw\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>True to form though Edwards went ahead with his customary back-flip.
