Phoenix Racing announced recently that they would field the No. 51 car for at-least 18 races<\/a> during the 2013 season. Regan Smith will drive the car in the season opening Daytona 500 while other races will be run by Austin Dillon and A.J. Allmendinger.<\/p>\n

Smith will drive the car for much of the teams planned schedule. Dillion will compete at Las Vegas. Allmendinger will drive the car at Phoenix International Raceway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Auto Club Speedway and Martinsville Speedway reports FOX Sports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As Phoenix Racing continues their search for sponsorship to run full-time the opportunity for Allmendinger to run additional races exists.<\/p>\n

Allmendinger ran four races with Phoenix Racing in 2012 after completing NASCAR’s Road to Recovery. His best finish was a 24th place run,<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to racing with the team again,\u201d Allmendinger said. \u201cThey\u2019re an awesome group of guys and I\u2019m grateful to (team owner) James (Finch) for the opportunity. It meant a lot to me to get back in a race car. We showed we were capable of being competitive and I think we can be competitive again. I\u2019m looking forward to whatever races they offer. The possibility exists (to run more races) with Guy Roofing coming aboard as a new sponsor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Allmendinger will compete in the Rolex 24 at Daytona which begins January 26th. He will look for back-to-back wins as part of Michael Shank Racing driving the No. 60 Ford with<\/p>\n
