Carl Edward’s, driver of the No.99 Fastenal Ford Fusion blew his engine in tonight’s AdvoCare 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway and might of just completely blown his chances at making the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Chase. (NSCS)<\/p>\n

Edwards, who was in desperate need of a win at tonight’s NSCS race blew his engine on lap 264. It was his first DNF (did not finish) since 2009, it had been 102 races.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Edward’s finished second in the points to Tony Stewart last year and has had nothing but a frustrating season this year.<\/p>\n

Last weekend at Bristol he ran out of fuel, so this weekends engine failure all but officially closed the door on his Chase hopes.<\/p>\n

Edward’s said, “Man its hard to put into words, this is just how our season has been going.” He told reporters this year has been “amazing in a bad luck way.” and that he “isn’t a religious person but thinks someone is trying to teach him a lesson.”<\/p>\n

With next weekend being at Richmond, a track in which he only has 3 top fives in 16 starts and no wins chances aren’t in his favor. Edwards led the most laps at the first Richmond race this season but was penalized for jumping the final restart.<\/p>\n

Edward’s would need to win and get help at this point in order to have any chance of making the Chase.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
