CONCORD, N.C.<\/strong> <\/span>\u2014 Axalta, one of the leaders of liquid and powder coating, announced Wednesday it will showcase the company\u2019s 2020 Global Automotive Color of the Year, Axalta Sea Glass, on the No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE, driven by William Byron, at this year\u2019s DAYTONA 500.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are delighted to utilize our long-term partnership with Hendrick Motorsports to showcase our Global Automotive Color of the Year by running the No. 24 Axalta Sea Glass paint scheme in this year\u2019s DAYTONA 500,\u201d said Wade Robinson, the managing director at Axalta Global Motorsports. \u201cThe intensity of the Sea Glass color, which is inspired by waterways and oceans, will light up the track with its rich color and smooth finish. William is the perfect driver to bring this paint scheme to life and capture the checkered flag at the famed Daytona International Speedway.\u201d<\/p>\n This season marks the third time Byron will start in the DAYTONA 500, which has served as the opening race of the NASCAR season since 1982. Byron had great success at the track last season, earning his first career Cup Series pole and becoming the second-youngest driver to earn the top start in DAYTONA 500 history.<\/p>\n \u201cThe No. 24 is always one of the coolest cars on the track,\u201d Byron said. \u201cThe Axalta Sea Glass color brings the paint scheme to a whole new level that is guaranteed to stand out from the others. Hopefully we can start the 2020 season on a high note and put Axalta\u2019s Global Automotive Color of the Year in the Victory Lane at the DAYTONA 500.\u201d<\/p>\n Byron is coming off a huge sophomore season. He had five top-5 finishes \u2013 including two second-place finishes \u2013 and 13 top-10 finishes.
