After five seasons in the No. 41 car at Stewart-Haas Racing, Kurt Busch will move to the seat of the No. 1 car of Chip Ganassi Racing for the 2019 season.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday Busch, Monster Energy and Chip Ganassi Racing all announced on social media of the move.<\/p>\n
Busch, the 2004 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion, won six races including the 2017 Daytona 500 at SHR. He will replace Jamie McMurray in the No. 1 car.<\/p>\n
McMurray does not have a ride for the 2019 season but has an offer from CGR to run the Daytona 500.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am tremendously proud to be joining Chip Ganassi Racing and the prestigious group of alumni,\u201d Busch said in a team release. \u201cAlong with Monster Energy, winning races and competing at the highest level, it\u2019s what we are all about. Ganassi\u2019s forward thinking approach is why I have decided to commit all my years of Monster Energy Cup experience to CGR.\u201d<\/p>\n
Prior to joining SHR, Busch drove for Furnitre Row in 2013 and part of the 2012 season. He also drove for James Finch and Penske Racing after beginning his career with Roush Racing.<\/p>\n
