Rob Kauffman wants Michael Waltrip Racing to find a primary sponsor for the \u00a0No. 56 car driven by Martin Truex Jr. but admitted recently that he could be a “fill in a gap” sponsor for the team.<\/p>\n

RK Motors has sponsored cars driven by MWR drivers Clint Bowyer and Brian Vickers six times this season but does not envision sponsoring a team full-time.<\/p>\n

That leaves MWR looking for sponsorship on the car driven by Truex after Napa notified the organization its intention to withdraw from the team following the events that took place at Richmond International Raceway three weeks ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the team breaks even and is competitive, I\u2019m happy,\u2019\u2019 Kauffman said, via MRN<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m lucky enough that I don\u2019t get my living from NASCAR, but it has to be commercially viable. That\u2019s the parameters I work around.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m generally not a quitter. I\u2019m not a miracle worker, but I\u2019m going to do my level best to power through this.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

Kauffman also declined to make negative comments towards suspended general manager Ty Norris.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis status is that he\u2019s a valuable member of Michael Waltrip Racing. I think that commenting on some specific person\u2019s role in our organization is kind of inappropriate, but Ty has been a part of the organization since the beginning and remains having an integral role.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
